After years of using the Google Keyword tool and trying to interpret what those stupid green bars meant, Google has finally come around and is showing real numbers in the search volume estimator. Hallelujah! Check it out:
First I would like to point out that this feature was a long time coming. With all the data Google has, all the users of their AdWords platform and all the money being spent, this seems like it should have been available (at least for AdWords customer) for a long time. However, I am elated to finally be able to have an idea of how many impressions I might get. This will allow me to put together much more accurate budgets for ad spend in the future.

That was a well written article, very intereting, thank you for a good read.
With the Google Keyword Tool, I often search and there are 1000′s of results displayed in the Approx Avg Search Volume column yet the data from the previous month is “Insufficient Data”.
This does not make logical senses to me as how can there be no search volume (Insufficient data) during previous months if there are 1000′s on an average month.
Do you know why.
@G Web The “Insufficient Data” message often results from a data center error. I recommend trying again later.
I don’t recommend programs very often however this new service is excellent. It’s a key phrase tool that has a database of millions of key phrases showing the adwords traffic count monthly together with the google competition count and other figures.
At a click of a button you will discover keyword phrases with traffic but no competition and I’ve used it already to get internet pages and web-sites to the top of the various search engines, even with no backlinks.
